How I work as a counsellor ...

Whilst the foundation of my training derives from the Person Centred Model of therapy I can work in an eclectic way and so offering the client a therapy to suit their individual needs.

I work with people who want to talk about a particular issue, work through difficult feelings, emotions, personal development and people who want to gain more personal awareness. I work with the whole person, not only the presenting issues, this is important to me. As a counsellor I also have gained valuable insight of working with individuals who have experienced addiction, drugs, alcohol, food, prescribed medication etc.

I will listen and explore what/how you are feeling. I am not here to judge you; I am here to support you through your personal journey. My work involves ‘reflecting back’ on what you have said to me and this will give you the opportunity to ‘hear’ clearly what you have said. I will also work with feelings which can be very personal and, at times difficult to express. I am here to help you through that, for you to be heard and be respected. This can also help to bring about any changes that you want to take place. I will not give you any advice but the space to look at your issue(s) and work with you to develop different strategies to manage those issues. I will support you in understanding and accepting those feelings.

I usually work with past events which may have impacted on your feelings, emotions and behaviour in the present, ‘the here and now’. This will help me to gain some in-depth knowledge of you as a person and what has been ‘going on’ for you. This work will link how the past affects the present and what you may wish to change. I am also willing to make counsellor home visits, if this is necessary, as I feel it is important to meet your needs fully.

Although I am a counsellor based in Sale, Manchester I can offer counselling services across South Manchester and Cheshire including Hale, Altrincham and Timperley..
